What is the broadway department store?

The Broadway Department Store was a retail chain that operated in Southern California from 1896 to 1996. Its flagship store was located in downtown Los Angeles, and it had 25 stores at its peak. The store specialized in clothing and fashion, but also sold furniture, cosmetics, and housewares. Known for its elaborate window displays, the store catered to middle-class shoppers and was a popular spot for holiday shopping. In 1995, the chain was acquired by Federated Department Stores, which rebranded all the stores as Macy's. The famous downtown Los Angeles store building was renovated into loft apartments in 2003.
